The reason the magazine has a celebrity on the front cover is so that they will draw more attention than they would without one. The bigger and more well known the celebrity, the more people will buy the magazine and they gain higher standing towards competitors. The fact that the celebrity is looking directly at the camera makes it as though the magazine is addressing you.
